Mastering the ENTSO-E Wave

Energy prices change every day based on grid demand and renewable availability. Eltivo reads day-ahead ENTSO-E prices and works with both 15-minute and 60-minute market data, depending on how your market publishes prices and how your contract is settled.

How the 44% energy-price figure is calculated

The comparison uses the same amount of energy in two cases over the stated winter period:

  • Baseline — the energy is priced at the full-day average, without scheduling.
  • Eltivo schedule — the same energy is priced during the cheapest full hours of each day.

The 44% figure uses Nord Pool Estonia prices from 1 Nov 2025 to 28 Feb 2026 and compares the full-day average with the 8 cheapest full hours in each day. Each full-hour price is the average of four 15-minute market prices. Including 24% VAT, those 8 hours averaged 82.2 €/MWh against a 147.5 €/MWh full-day average. This comparison covers the energy component only; network charges and other bill components are excluded.

The Integration Protocol

01

Connect

Today, setup starts with the Eltivo Smart Plug: place it in an outlet, connect it to your home Wi-Fi once, and assign the load you want to shift. Future Eltivo controllers follow the same app-led workflow. No bridge or professional installation needed.

02

Set Constraints

Choose how Eltivo schedules around your life: hourly or 15-minute prices, 2/4/6/8/12/24-hour planning windows, how many cheapest slots should run inside each window, and an optional price limit. Splitting the day into windows lets you cap how long a device can stay off before it has to run again.

03

Auto-Optimize

Our server optimises your schedule and sends commands to your device in real time. If your internet drops, the device keeps following the latest schedule for up to 48 hours; after a power cut it waits for the internet to set its clock.

Schedule Preview

See the cheapest slots instantly.

This preview illustrates the scheduling logic Eltivo devices follow: choose 1-hour or 15-minute prices, set a 2/4/6/8/12/24-hour planning window, and decide how many cheapest slots run inside each window. Shorter windows reduce the longest off-period, while longer windows better suit loads with thermal storage. This example uses 4-hour windows.

How is this comparison calculated?

The comparison uses Nord Pool Estonia prices from 1 November 2025 to 28 February 2026, retrieved through the public ENTSO-E API. Including 24% VAT, the full-day average was 14.75 c/kWh, the 8 cheapest full hours averaged 8.22 c/kWh, and the 16 cheapest averaged 11.48 c/kWh.

It assumes all entered consumption can be scheduled inside the selected hours. This is not a forecast for the total electricity bill. Network charges, renewable-energy fees, electricity excise duty and other bill components do not change in this comparison.

A technical edge for the modern home.

Your optimised schedule lives on the device itself. If your Wi-Fi or internet drops, the plug keeps running that saved schedule from its own clock for up to 48 hours — it won’t get stuck on or off waiting for the cloud, the way plugs that need the internet for every command can. After a power cut it needs the internet once to set its clock. When the connection returns, it re-syncs the time and pulls a fresh schedule automatically.

  • On-device schedule — keeps running through Wi-Fi outages of up to 48 hours
  • Direct device control — no extra bridge between the app and the hardware
  • Automatic updates — fetches a fresh schedule as soon as the connection is back

Ready to automate?

Estonian households can reduce electricity costs by moving flexible consumption into cheaper hours. Savings vary by electricity plan and season: winter price swings are often larger, while summer prices can already stay low for long periods.
