Electric radiators

≈ €10saved per radiator per month

At 10 kWh a day, the energy component costs about €44 a month at the full-day average. If the same energy is used during each day’s 16 cheapest full hours, it costs about €34 — a saving of about €39 a month across four radiators.

One €49.99 plug pays back in about 5 heating months

Heat pumps (advanced)

−44%in the 8-hour energy-price comparison

If your heat pump resumes by itself after a power cut and draws under 16 A, a plug can hold it to the cheapest hours — we ran a ground-source pump like this for a full winter. If the same pump also makes your domestic hot water, keep it on unrestricted power and do not schedule it with a smart plug.

Check your pump before scheduling it

Sources: Nord Pool Estonia day-ahead prices, 1 Nov 2025 – 28 Feb 2026, via Elering. Four 15-minute market prices were averaged into each full clock hour before ranking the hours in each day. Including 24% VAT, the full-day average was 147.5 €/MWh (14.75 c/kWh); the 8 cheapest full hours averaged 82.2 €/MWh (−44%), and the 16 cheapest 114.8 €/MWh (−22%). The comparison covers only the spot electricity price; network charges, the renewable energy fee, electricity excise duty and other bill items are excluded. The radiator example uses 10 kWh/day. Payback uses the current €49.99 plug price. Actual results depend on consumption, comfort settings, electricity plan, network plan and season.

Intelligent Hardware

One job per device: move your biggest electricity loads into the day’s cheapest hours.

What the plug actually does

Next-day prices are published every afternoon. The app finds suitable lower-priced periods for the operating time you choose and sends the schedule to the smart plug.

Add the smart plug

Connect the smart plug to Wi-Fi and add it to the Eltivo Home app.

Set the operating time

Choose how many hours per day the connected appliance should run. The app finds suitable periods in the next-day prices.

The plug follows the schedule

The schedule is stored on the smart plug, so it continues to run during a temporary internet outage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work when the internet is down?

Yes, for up to 48 hours. The latest schedule (today, plus tomorrow once its prices are published) is stored on the plug, and the plug keeps time with its own clock. After a power cut it has no clock until it reconnects, so it needs the internet once before it resumes the schedule.

Will the room stay warm if the radiator only runs in the cheap hours?

For many rooms, yes, but it depends on insulation, weather and heater size. The radiator’s thermostat still decides how hard it works whenever it has power. You choose how many hours it gets — in last winter’s comparison, the 16 cheapest full hours averaged 22% below the full-day energy price. If a room runs cold, give it more hours.

What can I plug into it?

Anything up to 16 A / 3680 W that goes back to work when power returns: electric radiators, water heaters, towel rails, floor heating, EV granny chargers. Devices that need a button pressed after a power cut — some AC units, most electronics — won’t resume on their own, so check yours first.

Can I use it with a heat pump?

Sometimes — and then the savings are the biggest of all. It works if your pump automatically resumes heating when power returns and draws under 16 A, ideally with underfloor heating or a buffer tank that stores heat through the expensive hours. If the pump also heats your domestic hot water, keep it on unrestricted power and do not schedule it with a smart plug.

How is this different from a cheap Tuya smart plug?

The hardware looks similar — the difference is what drives it. Ordinary smart plugs give you fixed on/off timers; Eltivo reads tomorrow’s market prices every day and re-plans the schedule around the cheapest periods automatically. You keep manual control, power metering and consumption stats in the app.

Where can I order Eltivo?

Eltivo Smart Plug is sold and delivered in Estonia. It saves the most on an hourly or spot-priced electricity plan, when the app shifts usage to the cheapest hours. On a fixed-rate plan it still works as a smart plug for remote control, schedules and energy monitoring.

Do I need professional installation?

No. Plug the device into a wall socket, open the Eltivo Home app, tap “Add”, and follow the in-app instructions.
